OUR FAQS

Addressing your common questions

Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong before booking?

No. Many people come to therapy with a general sense that something feels “off” — overwhelmed, disconnected, reactive, stuck, or unlike themselves – without having clear words for it yet.

Part of the work is slowing things down together and making sense of what’s happening underneath.

What kinds of concerns do you work with?

We support adults and parents experiencing things such as:

  • Anxiety, overwhelm, and overthinking
  • Relationship strain or disconnection
  • Perinatal and early parenting challenges
  • Fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and birth trauma
  • Identity shifts and life transitions
  • Grief, loss, and trauma
  • Emotional overwhelm linked to hormonal changes, including PMDD or perimenopause
  • Difficulties with intimacy, closeness, or emotional connection

You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin therapy.

Can I bring my baby to sessions?

Yes. Babies are welcome in session.

We understand that attending therapy with a baby can feel stressful or unpredictable at times. Longer sessions are available for parents attending with their baby, allowing more space for feeding, settling, and moving at a manageable pace – without feeling rushed.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

That’s very common.

Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’re used to coping on your own or carrying things internally for a long time. You don’t need to “perform well” in therapy or explain everything perfectly.

The aim is to create a steady, supportive space where you can begin from wherever you are.

How often will I need appointments?

This depends on your needs, goals, and what feels manageable for you.

Some people attend weekly initially, while others begin fortnightly. We can discuss this together and adjust over time depending on what support feels most helpful.

What approaches do you use?

The work is integrative and tailored to you.

Therapy may draw from approaches including EMDR, schema therapy, CBT, ACT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, family systems therapy, and attachment- and mentalisation-based approaches.

Alongside thoughts and emotions, we also pay attention to relationships, patterns, the nervous system, and the role of the body in emotional experience.

Is therapy only for parents or perinatal concerns?

No.

While there is a strong interest in perinatal and parent–infant mental health, we also work with adults navigating stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity changes, grief, disconnection, and life transitions more broadly.

This includes working with men, individuals, and people navigating changes across different life stages.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Further information about fees, rebates, and appointment options can be discussed when booking.

Can I access rebates or third-party funding for sessions?

Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to access funding or rebates through Medicare, private health insurance, WorkCover, or other approved third-party providers.

If you’re unsure what may apply to you, this can be discussed before booking.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral is required to book an appointment privately.

Some funding pathways, such as Medicare, may require a referral or Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked online through the booking portal.

If you’re unsure where to begin, that’s okay too. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

What are the session fees?

Initial consultation (50 minutes): $300
Standard consultation (50 minutes): $265
Extended consultation (75 minutes): Pro Rata

We understand that starting therapy can come with practical questions about cost and access.

Fees and appointment information are provided clearly upfront to help reduce uncertainty and support informed decision-making.

Depending on your circumstances, rebates or third-party funding options may be available, including through Medicare, private health insurance, and other approved providers.

What if I book the wrong appointment type?

That’s okay.

If you’re unsure which session to choose, this can be adjusted together if needed.

FINAL NOTE

You don’t have to carry this on your own.

Therapy offers a place where things can be understood and worked through – together.
